I use ceramics as a tool to research social and historical issues that I find relevant for our time. Also, both the symbolic content and the discursive strategies that I use, come from contemporary art, especially I am referring to the practice of combining diverse techniques and the incorporation of space as an essential ingredient of the work. Hand in hand with strategies taken from installation and objectual art, I use the aesthetics of craft to open up a reflection on the hybridity of our current understanding of art, culture and folklore. Only hybridization between art and handicraft allows me to enter that ambiguous and mysterious world.
